RPow Signs Agreement With Masdar For Abu Dhabi’s 1 GW Gigascale Round-The-Clock Project

RPow has signed a service agreement with Masdar, officially known as Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, to support a major clean energy project in Abu Dhabi. The project is being developed as the world’s first gigascale Round-the-Clock (RTC) renewable energy facility and is designed to provide 1 GW of clean electricity continuously, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The project will combine large-scale solar power generation with battery energy storage to maintain a reliable electricity supply. It will feature a 5.2 GW photovoltaic (PV) solar plant integrated with a 19 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS). Electricity generated by the solar panels will pass through DC-to-AC inverters, with the battery system integrated into the facility before power is delivered to the grid through transformers and the project’s point of interconnection.

Under the agreement, RPow will provide advanced digital modelling, simulation and operational optimization services for the hybrid PV and BESS facility. The company will develop a plant performance model designed to meet the requirements of the project’s Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

RPow will also conduct performance analysis and integrate the project’s systems with local Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) platforms and Weather Forecasting Systems (WFS). Its real-time digital twin technology will continuously assess plant performance and update production models based on operating conditions.

The digital engineering work will be supported by RPow’s proprietary platform, Delpho by RPow. The platform will be used throughout the project lifecycle, from technical validation and optimization to live operations and performance monitoring.

RPow will undertake the project in partnership with Secmotic. The collaboration combines digitalization, technical reliability and scalability expertise to support efficient and resilient operations.

The initiative represents a major step in combining large-scale solar generation, battery storage and digital technologies to provide dependable renewable electricity around the clock.
