SECI Raises FDRE-IX Tender Capacity To 1,500 MW, Bidding Limit To 750 MW

SECI has issued Amendment-01 to its tender for Interstate Transmission System (ISTS)-connected renewable energy projects under SECI-FDRE-IX, increasing the total offered capacity from 1,200 MW to 1,500 MW. The revised tender requires selected projects to provide an assured peak supply of 6,000 MWh, based on four hours of supply at the full contracted capacity.

Under the amended bidding framework, the maximum capacity that an individual bidder, including its affiliates and group companies, can bid for has been increased to 750 MW from the earlier limit of 600 MW. The minimum bidding capacity remains unchanged at 50 MW.

The projects will be developed under the Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model, with project allocation carried out through an e-bidding process followed by an e-Reverse Auction. The revised tender also identifies the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL), Kerala State Electricity Board Limited (KSEBL), and other purchasing entities across India as prospective off-takers.

SECI has further introduced flexibility in project configuration. Developers will be permitted to modify the breakup of their project capacity until the date of signing the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). The amendment is expected to provide greater flexibility to bidders while supporting the procurement of firm and dispatchable renewable energy.

The increased capacity and higher bidding ceiling mark an expansion of SECI’s efforts to facilitate large-scale firm and dispatchable renewable energy procurement through ISTS-connected projects.
