JSW Energy has crossed a major operational milestone by surpassing 15 GW of total installed power generation capacity. The company’s operational portfolio has reached 15,025 MW following the commissioning of 1,572 MW of new generation capacity since April 2026.
The latest expansion has taken place in less than six quarters after JSW Energy crossed the 10 GW capacity mark in March 2025. The company has recorded a compound annual growth rate of around 26% during this period, highlighting the rapid pace of its capacity expansion.
Renewable energy has been the main contributor to this growth. More than 80% of the 1,572 MW added during FY27 so far comes from renewable sources. The additions include 593 MW of solar, 420 MW of hybrid projects, 150 MW of hydro and 108 MW of wind capacity. The company also added 300 MW of thermal capacity through inorganic growth.
With the latest additions, renewable energy accounts for more than 60% of JSW Energy’s operational portfolio, with a total capacity of 9,067 MW. Wind power represents the largest share of its renewable portfolio at 3,125 MW, followed by 2,426 MW of solar, 1,781 MW of hydro and 1,735 MW of hybrid capacity. Thermal generation accounts for the remaining 5,958 MW.
JSW Energy is also progressing toward its greenfield capacity addition target of 3 GW for FY2027. The company has already achieved around 42% of this target.
Looking ahead, JSW Energy has a locked-in generation portfolio of 32.4 GW. This includes its 15 GW operational capacity, 13.4 GW of projects under construction and a further 4 GW development pipeline.
Energy storage is another important part of the company’s expansion strategy. JSW Energy has secured 29.6 GWh of storage capacity, comprising 26.4 GWh of pumped hydro storage and 3.2 GWh of battery energy storage systems.
By 2030, the company aims to reach 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity. It also has a long-term goal of achieving complete carbon neutrality by 2050.
