Solis has marked a significant milestone in its India energy storage journey with the commissioning of its first SolisStorage EverCore Energy Storage System (ESS) in the country. The project, deployed at a software IT data center in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, combines an 870 kW rooftop solar installation with a 500 kW/1.04 MWh battery energy storage system to strengthen energy resilience and improve renewable energy utilization.
Developed in collaboration with Inforce Engineering Solutions LLP (Inforce Solar), the project highlights the growing role of integrated solar-plus-storage solutions in India’s commercial and industrial (C&I) sector, particularly for energy-intensive and mission-critical facilities such as data centers.

Integrating Solar and Storage for Critical Infrastructure
Data centers require highly reliable power while managing significant and continuously growing electricity demand. The Chennai installation has been designed to enable greater utilization of on-site renewable energy while providing additional flexibility in managing power requirements.
The rooftop solar system has a capacity of 870 kW and uses 615 Wp TOPCon modules. It is integrated with four SolisStorage EverCore 261 kWh units, operating in parallel to provide a combined usable storage capacity of approximately 1.04 MWh.
The system also incorporates four Solis S6-EH3P125K10-NV-YD-H hybrid inverters, providing an overall storage power rating of 500 kW.
During daylight hours, the rooftop solar installation supplies renewable electricity to the facility, while surplus generation can be stored in the EverCore batteries. The stored energy can subsequently be dispatched during periods of higher demand or when grid conditions require it, helping maximize on-site solar self-consumption.
Supporting Reduced Dependence on Diesel Backup
Backup power has traditionally been an important consideration for data-center operations, with diesel generators commonly deployed to support business continuity. However, increasing fuel costs and corporate sustainability objectives are driving greater interest in cleaner and more flexible energy alternatives.
By combining rooftop solar with battery energy storage, the Chennai system provides an additional low-carbon energy resource that can help reduce diesel-generator runtime under suitable operating conditions.
The integrated system also enables renewable energy optimization, peak-demand management and automated energy scheduling, while helping lower fuel consumption and the associated carbon impact.
Growing Role of C&I Energy Storage in India
The deployment comes as India’s C&I sector increasingly explores energy storage alongside renewable generation to address rising electricity demand, energy reliability requirements and sustainability commitments.
For critical infrastructure such as data centers, integrated solar-plus-storage systems can provide businesses with greater control over when renewable electricity is consumed, while adding operational flexibility to their overall energy-management strategy.
Through the combination of hybrid inverter technology, intelligent energy management and modular battery storage, the Chennai project demonstrates a practical application of energy storage within India’s evolving C&I landscape.
