Premier Energies Limited and RCT India, part of Germany-based RCT Group, have entered into a binding term sheet to establish a joint venture (JV) for a 12 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) manufacturing facility in Telangana.
The proposed facility will be developed through Premier Energies’ subsidiary, Premier Battery Technologies Pvt. Ltd., with the first phase planned at 6 GWh. The facility is expected to serve the growing demand for energy storage across commercial, industrial and utility-scale applications in India and international markets.
The partnership also aims to establish an export-oriented manufacturing platform, with the companies planning to supply BESS solutions to international markets from India. Premier Energies will contribute its manufacturing capabilities, while RCT will bring its global energy-sector experience, engineering expertise and international supply-chain network.
The companies said the partnership comes amid rising demand for large-scale energy storage driven by India’s expansion of renewable energy. The proposed facility is expected to support grid flexibility, manage renewable energy intermittency and contribute to the development of India’s domestic BESS manufacturing ecosystem.
For Premier Energies, the proposed JV marks an expansion beyond its existing solar cell and module manufacturing operations into the wider clean-energy value chain. The company said the manufacturing platform will target both domestic and international markets.
RCT Solutions Group brings experience in setting up more than 10 GW of BESS-related projects worldwide, supported by in-house engineering and operational capabilities for gigascale battery storage projects.
The proposed facility is expected to strengthen India’s battery energy storage manufacturing capabilities and serve renewable power developers, commercial and industrial consumers and utility-scale projects in India and overseas.
