ACEN Invests PHP 9 Billion in Solar and BESS
ACEN is investing more than PHP 9 billion in solar and battery energy storage developments in Zambales, Philippines, strengthening its domestic renewable energy portfolio. The investment demonstrates the increasing focus on pairing photovoltaic generation with battery storage to improve the availability and flexibility of renewable electricity. BESS can store excess solar generation and discharge electricity when needed, helping address the variability of solar output while supporting grid stability. Skye Adds 1.7 MWp Rooftop Solar
Skye Renewables has commissioned a 1.7 MWp rooftop solar system at Marquee Mall in the Philippines, a commercial property owned by Ayala Land. The installation will generate renewable electricity directly at the site, helping the mall reduce dependence on conventional grid power and manage its long-term energy costs. Large commercial facilities are increasingly adopting rooftop PV to offset electricity used for cooling, lighting and other operations without requiring additional land. The project highlights the expanding role of distributed solar in Southeast Asia’s commercial and industrial energy transition.
MTerra Starts 600 MW Solar-Storage Operations
MTerra Solar Phase 1 has begun commercial operations, supplying 600 MWac of mid-merit capacity under its agreement with Meralco. The milestone follows grid approval allowing 950 MWac of solar and 825 MW of BESS to operate within the Philippine grid. The wider project has already energised 1,373 MWac of solar alongside 825 MW/3,300 MWh of battery storage, while another 250 MWac is expected to enter commercial service. Once fully developed, MTerra is planned to reach 3,500 MWp of solar and 4,500 MWh of storage.
Premier Energies Expands Singapore Storage Operations
Premier Energies has approved the establishment of a wholly owned Singapore subsidiary, provisionally named PE Horizon Pte. Ltd., as part of its international clean energy expansion. The company is simultaneously consolidating its battery and energy storage activities by transferring Premier Energies Storage Solutions under Premier Battery Technologies. The restructuring will bring its BESS, battery cell, hardware and software activities under a more streamlined corporate structure while retaining the same ultimate ownership. The move strengthens Premier Energies’ organisational platform for expanding its battery storage business and international clean energy activities.
