Verdant Energy Secures Up To USD 25 Million Financing For Thailand C&I Solar Projects

Verdant Energy has secured up to USD 25 million in non-recourse project financing from responsAbility Investments AG to support the expansion of its commercial and industrial (C&I) solar portfolio in Thailand. The financing was announced on September 16, 2026, and will be used for the development, construction, and operation of renewable energy projects.

Verdant Energy is a renewable energy platform backed by A.P. Moller Capital through its Emerging Markets Infrastructure Fund II (EMIF II). The company develops, constructs, owns, and operates renewable energy assets across Southeast Asia. It currently has an established presence in Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

The new financing is expected to provide long-term capital for Verdant’s growing portfolio of C&I solar projects in Thailand. The non-recourse structure is designed to support project-level financing while allowing the company to maintain its approach to investment and risk management.

Verdant Energy Chief Executive Officer Alan Yau said the financing represents an important milestone in the company’s strategy to scale its renewable energy platform across Southeast Asia. He added that the partnership with responsAbility will strengthen access to long-term project capital and help accelerate the deployment of solar projects in Thailand.

The financing also has the backing of Verdant’s shareholder, A.P. Moller Capital. Through its Emerging Markets Infrastructure Fund II, the investment firm focuses on infrastructure platforms that support sustainable economic development in high-growth emerging markets.

Sivaramakrishnan Sreedharan, Chief Investment Officer of Verdant Energy, said the facility would help the company efficiently finance bankable projects while maintaining disciplined investment and risk management practices. He added that Verdant intends to build on its partnership with responsAbility as it expands its renewable energy portfolio across the region.

The financing is being provided through responsAbility’s USD 500 million Climate Investment Strategy for Asia. The strategy is designed to mobilize private capital for climate infrastructure investments across emerging and developing markets.

Jay Bathija, Principal, Climate Infrastructure Investments at responsAbility, said the transaction aligns with the firm’s strategy of supporting scalable renewable energy companies contributing to decarbonization while meeting rising energy demand in emerging markets.

The financing provides Verdant with additional project-level capital as Thailand’s C&I sector continues to create opportunities for distributed solar generation. The company plans to use the facility to accelerate project deployment and expand its renewable energy operations in the country.
