ERS Energy Sdn Bhd has surpassed 1.5 GWh of cumulative utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity across Southeast Asia, with the company securing the majority of its portfolio over the past 12 months.
The milestone includes a 520 MWh BESS project for ACEN in Zambales, Philippines, which ERS Energy described as a landmark project. The company has also secured two utility-scale projects under Malaysia’s inaugural Battery Energy Storage Programme (MyBeST), with the projects having a combined capacity of 800 MWh.
ERS Energy said the latest project wins build on its expansion across strategic markets in Southeast Asia. The company combines project structuring, financing frameworks and energy storage system integration capabilities as part of its utility-scale BESS business.
The company has expanded from its earlier focus as a solar engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) specialist into utility-scale energy storage development and system integration. Its growing BESS portfolio is aimed at supporting grid stability and addressing the intermittency associated with renewable energy generation.
Jonathan Kan, Managing Director of ERS Energy, said the company’s 1.5 GWh milestone reflects its execution capabilities and the confidence of its partners, lenders and regional grid operators.
ERS Energy said renewable energy expansion across Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Australia is increasing the need for grid flexibility and energy storage. The company’s BESS portfolio is intended to provide grid services and support the deployment of renewable energy across the region.
The company said it works with technology partners and financial institutions to support utility-scale storage projects from design and project financing through to grid synchronisation.
