ADNEC Group is expanding its clean energy and sustainability initiatives across its major venues in the United Arab Emirates, with new measures aimed at reducing emissions and improving resource efficiency.
The group has extended its clean electricity agreement with the Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) to include ADNEC Centre Al Ain. The electricity supplied under the agreement is verified through International Renewable Energy Certificates issued by the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy.
The development follows ADNEC Group’s ongoing installation of a 5 MWp rooftop solar power system at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. Once operational, the solar project is expected to generate approximately 8.57 million kWh of electricity annually. This output is projected to meet nearly 30% of the venue’s total electricity requirements.
The updates were included in ADNEC Group’s 2025 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report, marking the organisation’s tenth consecutive year of sustainability reporting. The report said the group reduced its absolute greenhouse gas emissions while achieving its highest economic contribution to the UAE.
During the year, ADNEC Group generated AED 9.2 billion in Gross Value Added, supported more than 70,000 jobs and welcomed 6.3 million visitors across over 1,100 events globally. The group also reported a 39% reduction in carbon intensity per employee and a 47% reduction in water intensity per visitor.
ADNEC Group has updated its Net Zero roadmap, targeting net zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2030 and net zero across all emission scopes by 2045. The latter target is five years ahead of the UAE’s national net-zero target.
In 2025, the group also introduced a Social Impact Strategy and Toolkit to measure community benefits generated through its events, tourism, media and venue operations. The framework covers employment, small business participation, knowledge sharing and inclusion, with the first findings expected from 2026.
ADNEC Group’s sustainability efforts have received recognition through several awards and initiatives, including the UAE Year of Sustainability’s “Plan to Action” Seal, the Majra UAE Impact Seal Gold Tier and Gulf Sustainability Awards.
