POWERGRID Commissions Rajasthan Renewable Energy Transmission Project Under Phase III, Part C1

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has successfully commissioned the transmission system for the evacuation of renewable energy from Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zones under Phase III, Part C1. The project achieved commercial operation on September 22, 2026, marking another step in strengthening transmission infrastructure to support India’s growing renewable energy capacity.

The company received formal notification regarding the commencement of commercial operations through email on October 11, 2026. The transmission project was initially assigned to a dedicated wholly owned subsidiary of POWERGRID before being transferred through a corporate restructuring process.

In March 2026, the subsidiary was amalgamated with another transmission entity following the required authorisations and orders issued by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs earlier in the year. The restructuring consolidated the project under the successor entity, enabling the transmission infrastructure to proceed under the revised corporate structure.

The newly commissioned system is designed to support the evacuation of renewable power generated in Rajasthan’s renewable energy zones. The state has emerged as a major centre for large-scale solar and wind energy development, creating a growing requirement for transmission networks capable of transporting electricity to consumption centres.

The project is expected to support the integration of renewable energy into the national grid by strengthening the infrastructure required to transfer electricity from generation sites to demand centres. Efficient power evacuation systems are essential for reducing transmission constraints and enabling greater utilisation of renewable energy capacity.

POWERGRID’s latest commissioning also contributes to the broader development of India’s interstate transmission network, which is necessary to accommodate increasing renewable energy generation. As the country continues to expand its clean energy capacity, investments in transmission infrastructure will remain important for maintaining grid reliability and facilitating the delivery of renewable electricity across regions.
