Vestas has announced a new 346 MW wind turbine order in Australia as part of its third-quarter 2026 order intake, further strengthening its presence in the Asia-Pacific renewable energy market. The agreement includes the supply of 48 V172-7.2 MW wind turbines, supported by a 30-year Active Output Management (AOM) 5000 service agreement.
The order has been placed by an undisclosed customer for an unnamed wind energy project in Australia. The development will utilise Vestas’ V172-7.2 MW turbine technology, designed to support large-scale renewable electricity generation and deliver efficient operational performance.
Under the agreement, Vestas will supply 48 wind turbines, each with a rated capacity of 7.2 MW, providing a combined installed capacity of approximately 346 MW. The project will also benefit from a 30-year AOM 5000 service agreement, covering long-term turbine maintenance, operational support and performance optimisation.
The inclusion of a long-term service agreement reflects the increasing emphasis on ensuring turbine reliability, maximising energy production and maintaining operational efficiency throughout the lifecycle of utility-scale wind energy projects.
The latest order further strengthens Vestas’ position in Australia’s growing wind energy market, where investment in renewable power infrastructure continues to support the country’s efforts to diversify its electricity generation mix and reduce carbon emissions.
Australia has been accelerating renewable energy deployment as part of its broader energy transition strategy, with large-scale wind and solar projects playing an increasingly important role in meeting electricity demand and supporting the shift towards lower-carbon power generation.
The 346 MW wind project is expected to contribute additional renewable electricity generation capacity once operational, supporting Australia’s clean energy objectives and strengthening the country’s renewable energy infrastructure.
The agreement also highlights continued demand for high-capacity wind turbine technologies and comprehensive long-term service solutions across the Asia-Pacific region.
Vestas has not disclosed the customer’s identity, project name, location within Australia, turbine delivery schedule or expected commissioning timeline.
