CleanChoice Energy has secured an up to $85 million term loan facility from Aiga Capital Partners to support the expansion of its solar power generation portfolio across the United States. The financing will help advance the construction of new solar projects as the company strengthens its renewable energy development platform to address growing electricity demand.
Aiga Capital Partners is an institutional investment platform specialising in innovative financing solutions for companies developing sustainable infrastructure assets across North America. The financing agreement is expected to provide CleanChoice with additional capital to accelerate solar project development and expand its presence in the renewable electricity generation market.
The transaction represents another step in CleanChoice Energy’s transition from a retail clean electricity provider into a vertically integrated renewable energy company combining electricity supply with the development and ownership of solar generation assets.
Tom Matzzie, Chief Executive Officer of CleanChoice Energy, said the financing would support the company’s continued expansion into electricity generation while building on its established retail energy business. He highlighted the company’s strategy of connecting regional renewable energy production with consumer demand, describing it as a farm-to-table approach to clean electricity.
The latest financing follows CleanChoice Energy’s successful $166 million project financing raise for its second and third solar projects. Together, these financing arrangements are expected to support the company’s growing solar development pipeline and strengthen its ability to bring additional renewable energy capacity onto the electricity grid.
According to the company, the new term loan facility will provide financial flexibility across its development platform while allowing individual solar projects to secure separate project-level financing as they advance toward construction and operation.
Zoë Gamble, President of CleanChoice Energy, said the financing structure was developed in close collaboration with Aiga Capital Partners to address the company’s development requirements and the financial considerations associated with bringing renewable energy projects into construction.
The investment also reflects growing institutional interest in renewable energy developers that combine established electricity supply businesses with expanding portfolios of generation assets.
Rory Meyers, Managing Partner of Aiga Capital Partners, highlighted CleanChoice Energy’s established retail electricity platform and expanding solar project pipeline as key strengths supporting its growth strategy. He noted that the company’s vertically integrated business model provides opportunities to scale renewable energy generation while meeting increasing electricity demand.
As part of the transaction, JLL Securities served as financial advisor to CleanChoice Energy, while Sidley Austin LLP provided legal counsel to the company. Norton Rose Fulbright LLP acted as legal counsel to Aiga Capital Partners.
The financing is expected to strengthen CleanChoice Energy’s ability to develop and construct solar projects across the United States, supporting the expansion of domestic renewable electricity generation and contributing to the country’s broader energy transition.
With electricity demand continuing to increase, the investment highlights the role of institutional financing in accelerating solar infrastructure development and enabling renewable energy companies to expand their generation portfolios.
