Fujiyama Power Systems Limited has stated that China’s proposed restrictions on the export of technologies and machinery used in solar cell manufacturing are unlikely to materially affect its planned 1.2 GW solar cell manufacturing facility in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh. The company confirmed that the project remains on schedule, with commissioning expected in the first quarter of FY2027-28.
The company, which operates under the brand UTLSOLAR, said that the machinery and equipment required for the Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) solar cell manufacturing facility have already been delivered to its Ratlam plant. As a result, the proposed restrictions are not expected to have a significant impact on the project’s capital expenditure or commissioning timeline.
Fujiyama Power Systems also clarified that it has no immediate plans to expand its solar cell manufacturing capacity beyond the proposed 1.2 GW facility. The company stated that its existing operations do not depend on any ongoing foreign technology transfer and are not expected to be affected by the proposed restrictions.
The development comes amid media reports concerning China’s proposed export restrictions on technologies and equipment associated with solar cell manufacturing. Such measures could create uncertainties for companies planning new manufacturing facilities that rely on imported machinery and technology.
Fujiyama Power Systems operates primarily in India’s retail-focused rooftop solar market. Its product portfolio includes Solar Power Generation Systems (SPGS), comprising solar inverters, solar batteries and solar panels. The company serves the rooftop solar segment through the manufacturing and supply of these products.
Its existing solar panel manufacturing operations support the backward integration of its rooftop solar business. The planned solar cell manufacturing facility is expected to strengthen this integration further by providing additional support to its solar panel manufacturing activities.
By confirming that the necessary machinery has already arrived and that commissioning remains on schedule, Fujiyama Power Systems has indicated that the proposed Chinese restrictions are not expected to disrupt its current manufacturing plans. The company’s clarification also reinforces its existing strategy of strengthening domestic solar manufacturing capabilities without announcing any additional capacity expansion at present.
