A 32-member Australian clean energy delegation representing 21 companies is participating in the Renewable Energy India Expo (REI Expo) 2026 to explore commercial partnerships, technology collaboration and knowledge exchange with Indian businesses. The event is being held from October 22 to 24 at India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, bringing together stakeholders from the renewable energy and clean technology sectors.
The delegation is led by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), which is working to strengthen commercial ties between Australian and Indian companies. The visit programme is being delivered by Australia’s Smart Energy Council and the Renewable Energy Council Asia Pacific (RECAP). It is also supported by the Australian Government’s Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, the Accessing New Markets Initiative (ANMI), Investment NSW and Global Victoria.
The Australia Pavilion at REI Expo 2026 showcases a range of technologies and services designed to support the global clean energy transition. Participating Australian companies are presenting solutions in energy and battery storage systems, solar power, renewable-powered water systems for remote areas, photovoltaic technology, renewable energy training, hydrogen technology, energy simulation and solar installation. The pavilion also features clean technology and artificial intelligence solutions aimed at improving energy system performance and supporting the wider adoption of renewable energy.
During the exhibition, delegation members are engaging with Indian businesses, industry representatives and other stakeholders to understand the country’s clean energy ecosystem. Their discussions focus on identifying business opportunities, establishing technology partnerships and exchanging expertise to support the development and deployment of clean energy solutions in India.
Australia’s participation reflects the growing cooperation between the two countries in renewable energy, energy security and the transition towards lower-emission energy systems. The India-Australia Renewable Energy Partnership, launched in November 2024, provides a framework for cooperation across eight areas, including solar photovoltaics, solar supply chains, renewable hydrogen, energy storage, the circular economy for renewable energy, bilateral investment, capacity building and other areas of mutual interest.
Murray Spence, Trade and Investment Commissioner at Austrade, said India and Australia have complementary strengths that can support the clean energy transition. He highlighted Australia’s specialised technologies, innovation and expertise across the clean energy value chain, alongside India’s opportunities for technology deployment and market growth. He added that REI Expo 2026 provides a platform for Australian companies to connect directly with Indian industry and develop partnerships with long-term commercial benefits.
India’s expanding renewable energy market offers opportunities for Australian businesses in battery storage, grid modernisation, clean energy technologies and resilient supply chains. Through its participation, Austrade aims to connect Indian companies with Australian expertise and solutions, supporting investment, technology exchange and sustained collaboration across the clean energy sector.
