Digital lending platform Fibe has partnered with Canadian fintech-for-cleantech company Hygge Energy Inc. to expand financing opportunities for rooftop solar customers in India. The collaboration will integrate digital energy infrastructure with loan financing to simplify access to credit and support the adoption of rooftop solar systems under the government’s PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
The partnership aims to connect households with rooftop solar providers and suitable financing solutions through digital platforms. As rooftop solar adoption continues to grow across India, easier access to loans is expected to help customers manage the upfront costs associated with installing solar systems.
Hygge Energy has previously demonstrated the benefits of peer-to-peer rooftop solar electricity trading in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Its digital marketplace enables rooftop solar producers and prosumers to trade electricity directly with other consumers. This approach helps improve the economic value of rooftop solar installations by creating opportunities for electricity sharing and trading.
Having established digital infrastructure for rooftop solar energy trading, Hygge Energy is now expanding its platform to support solar financing through its partnership with Fibe. By combining its digital marketplace with Fibe’s lending capabilities, the company aims to make financing more accessible to households interested in adopting rooftop solar.
The collaboration is also expected to expand customer reach by digitally connecting potential solar customers with providers and loan opportunities. The initiative seeks to simplify the financing process and encourage wider participation in India’s residential rooftop solar market.
Akshay Mehrotra, Managing Director and Group CEO of Fibe, said the company is focused on making credit more accessible through technology-driven solutions that address customer needs. He added that the partnership with Hygge Energy would help households access financing for rooftop solar installations by combining the company’s digital energy marketplace with Fibe’s lending capabilities.
Prateek Saxena, Founder and CEO of Hygge Energy, described the collaboration as the company’s first partnership with a major digital consumer lender in India. He said the initiative would integrate Fibe’s financing capabilities with Hygge Energy’s Canadian-developed digital infrastructure for the Indian rooftop solar market.
Saxena also highlighted the potential to demonstrate asset tokenisation and loan financing by bringing digital finance and clean energy together.
The partnership represents an effort to connect clean energy adoption with digital lending, potentially making rooftop solar installations more financially accessible to Indian households and supporting the wider deployment of distributed solar energy.
