SECI Issues Tender for Setting up 1200 MW ISTS-Connected Solar PV Power Projects in India

The Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd. released Request for Selection (RfS) document for solar power developers for setting up of 1200 MW Interstate Transmission System ISTS-Connected Solar PV Power projects in India under tariff-based competitive bidding (ISTS-VIII).

The tender states that procurement of land, connectivity and long-term open access will be the responsibility of the solar power developer. 

For projects with a capacity of  50 MW upto 90 MW, the bidders will have to pay a document processing fee of Rs 5 lakh plus 18% GST as applicable. For projects more than 100 MW capacity, the solar developer will have to pay Rs 15 lakh plus 18% GST. Also an Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) of Rs. 4 lakh per MW per project will have to be submitted in the form of a Bank Guarantee in response to the RfS document submission. 

The installation of the solar PV power projects must be done on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis under tranche VIII of the ISTS program. The document further stated that the projects should range between 50 MW and 300 MW in capacity. It must be undertaken only in multiples of 10 MW.

To participate in the bidding, a one-time RfS document fee of Rs 29,500 will have to be paid by the solar power developing companies. The last date for the submission of bids is February 4, 2020.

The Government of India has recently announced policy for promotion of solar power in the country and set a target to achieve an aggregate installed capacity of 100 GW by the year 2022.
