Kuwait is working on creating a roadmap for the energy transition. The process includes field development, emission control, carbon sequestration, and renewables.
Sara Akbar, Chairperson & CEO OiLSERV, Kuwait, and Non-Executive Director, Petrofac said, “a committee is working on a national energy agenda until 2035 with specific targets and projects to address the energy transition agenda.”
UAE and Saudi Arabia have worked towards achieving developing the hydrogen economy and climate neutrality. Kuwait is far behind its neighbor countries because of political issues. But global energy transition and climate reporting requirements at COP27 are pushing Kuwait towards taking climate actions.
“The picture will dramatically change from now on as there has been a breakthrough between the parliament and the government”, she added.
