Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has signed an MOU with the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to tap the potential of solar power on rooftops at the campuses of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and National Security Guard (NSG) in India.
On the occasion, Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Union Home Secretary, and Shri Indu Shekhar Chakurvedi Secretary MNRE, were present.
The MoU was signed by Shri Rakesh Kumar Sing, Joint Secretary, MHA, and Smt. Suman Sharma MD, SECI. Ms. Suman Sharma spoke on behalf of SECI, saying, “SECI is pleased to serve India’s Climate Commitments and look forward for expanding the rooftop solar sector in the remotest parts of the country.”
This MoU is a significant step forward in supplying green power to the security forces of the country and reinforces government’s commitment to a sustainable future. MHA will be supported by the MoU in implementing rooftop solar panels under RESCO model.
The Solar Energy Corporation of India, a PSU of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, is involved in the promotion and development of renewable energy resources. It is primarily engaged in solar energy trading, R&D, and other forms of energy. SECI is also designated as the implementing agency for many Govt. RE schemes like VGF schemes, ISTS schemes, CPSU schemes etc.
