The tender will be held in Autumn 2022. It will see the total output of the project shared with multiple off-takers who are looking to satisfy their energy needs with reliable sources of renewable energy. BayWa r.e. will share more information later in the year, including details and terms of the tender.

Renewable energy that is reliable and accessible in times of energy crisis and climate change

BayWa r.e. is seeing a very high corporate demand worldwide for renewable electricity, especially in the EMEA region. This is driven by increasing sustainability commitments in face of climate change, customer and investor expectations, and Europe’s ongoing and unprecedented energy crisis.

PPA agreements provide long-term stability in energy supply, which protects companies from future price rises and allows them to develop new renewable energy projects. These benefits make corporate PPAs an important part of driving forward the transition to renewable energy.

BayWa r.e., a well-established PPA provider and energy solution provider in Europe has previously signed agreements across Europe with major global corporations such as Nestle, AB InBev and HeidelbergCement.

Daniel Parsons, BayWa r. e.’ s head of PPA, spoke on the occasion. “This is truly a unique time for European energy markets. While corporations are experiencing price increases and increased uncertainty, they also want to take an active part in the fight against climate change. Long-term PPA contracts can be a powerful tool for ensuring reliable electricity supply and encouraging more renewable energy. It is amazing that we are now able to introduce a tender process for our PPAs to Spain and Germany.

Benedikt Ortmann (Global Director of Solar Projects BayWa r.e.) also commented: “We want green electricity to be as accessible as we can.” Our PPA tender promotes the energy transition for industrial and commercial customers who are looking for reliable and affordable green energy. BayWa r.e. plays an integral part in this transition.
