Renu Energy Solutions is a locally owned and operated solar installer in North and South Carolina. Freshly announced that a new solar installation was completed at the University of North Carolina Asheville.
Renu Energy finished installing a 64-panel solar array in May to power the UNC Asheville Reuter Center, an educational facility on campus that is home of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, an award-winning, internationally-acclaimed learning community. It is expected to generate 37,000 kWh annually for the university’s grid infrastructure. This will also offset approximately 30 tons of CO2 emissions each year. UNC Asheville’s new standards for sustainability and energy efficiency will be supported by the installation.
Matthew Culley (Senior Consultant at Renu Energy Solutions) stated that Renu is always looking to promote clean energy initiatives in the Carolinas. It is encouraging to see higher education adopt cleaner energy practices. We are delighted to support UNC Asheville in its green energy goals and as a leader in model sustainable campus practices.
“The Reuter Center solar panel installation doubled UNC Asheville’s solar power production. It was also our first renewable energy project after we committed to carbon neutrality by 2050.” Jackie Hamstead, UNC Asheville’s Co-Director for Sustainability, stated that the project will not only mitigate climate impacts but also offset $920,000 in utility bills over the lifetime of the system. We are proud that this project brought together so many of our partners in the common goal of a healthier tomorrow.
Renu announced this announcement in conjunction with the completion of a solar panel installation at New Belgium Brewing in May. This is part of Renu’s ongoing efforts in Asheville to bring solar power to residents and businesses.
