Juhayna Food Industries signs an agreement with Egypt’s leading private solar utility company, KarmSolar, to build a central plant that will generate and sell electricity using diesel generators, solar panels, as well as industrial batteries at Al-Enmaa Farm, Abu Minqar, New Valley.

Ahmed Zahran (CEO of KarmSolar) stated that the initial investments for phase one were around EGP 130 million. This means that the total project investments could be as high as EGP 500 million over a 4-5 year period.

The 3.50-MW project will be completed in the first half of 2023. The plant will use a hybrid technology system to produce power and will provide approximately 62% of its total energy needs in phase 1. This will save up to 1.60 million litres of diesel.

Niels Thomsen (CEO of Juhayna) stated that Juhayna and KarmSolar will work together to combat climate change and find other eco-friendly energy sources. This contributes towards a more sustainable environment.
