Under the National Bioenergy Programme umbrella, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has launched its Waste to Energy Programme. It will be in effect for the financial years 2021-22 to 2025-26.
The Waste to Energy Programme has a budget of Rs 6 billion. This programme will be implemented by the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA).
The programme is called “Programme on Energy from Urban, Industrial and Agricultural Wastes/Residues”. It may also be known as “Waste to Energy Programme”. The programme’s objective is to help set up Waste to Energy projects to generate Biogas/ BioCNG/ Energy/ Power / Producer or syngas from industrial, urban and agricultural wastes/residues.
The programme provides Central Financial Assistance (CFA) to project developers and service charges to implementing/inspection agencies in respect of successful commissioning of Waste to Energy plants for generation of Biogas, Bio-CNG/enriched Biogas/Compressed Biogas, Power/ generation of producer or syngas.
BioURJA Portal will accept the proposal for “In-Principle” approval of CFA. Developers are required to share data about plant generation with MNRE and any other designated agency except for Biomass Gasifiers via installation of SCADA or remote monitoring systems.
