Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Dr. Mohamed Shaker confirmed that approximately 100,000 megawatts of renewable energy is available to be used in the production of green hydrogen within the next 10 year.
Minister Shaker stated that Egypt’s future income will come from renewable energy, just like oil.
In statements to Egypt Today Shaker stated that green hydrogen projects will create 44,000 jobs directly and indirectly, and 220,000 jobs temporarily.
He explained that the projects would also reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 37 million tons annually.
Shaker believes that Egypt’s expansion of renewable energy projects requires localization. He said “I support 100% the Egyptian product, which conforms with international standards.”
