India can, as a tropical nation, look forward to exploring the opportunities in renewable energy, Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan stated on Sunday at a literary festival, reports PTI.
The TN minister stated that East Asian countries, especially South Korea and Japan are open to investing in other parts of the world as the world recovers from COVID-19. He also said that India could increase its engagements with global finance and reap all the benefits.
Thiagarajan, speaking at the Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters (MBIFL 2023), said that India’s economic inequalities have widened during the past three decades since liberalisation.
He said that India’s economic inequality has only gotten worse over the past 30 years of liberalisation. However, the country can still benefit from the current global downturn by leveraging its natural resources in the post pandemic era.
Thiagarajan said that solar energy is a great option for a country like India.
As a tropical nation, India can expect to explore opportunities in the renewable energy industry. For example, Tamil Nadu has enormous potential to generate wind power. The summers in the north are long and the sun shines for a long time. He said that solar energy holds great potential.”
