Shakti Pumps (India) Limited has expanded its operations in Uganda by inaugurating a solar-powered piped drinking water supply project that will benefit 500,000 people across 20 rural districts.
The project, worth $35.30m, was awarded by the Ugandan Ministry of Water and Environment and funded by the India Exim Bank.
The company has opened a branch office in the country and will be supplying its stainless-steel submersible solar pumps, pressure booster pumps, pump-motors, controllers, and inverters, among other products.
This project is seen as a key milestone for the company’s green energy plans in Africa and may encourage other African countries to partner with Shakti Pumps.
The company has already established itself as a partner of choice for major export markets such as the US and the Middle East and is looking to expand further in other continents.
