Himachal Pradesh Collaborates with Oil India to Promote Sustainable Development Through Renewable Energy

The Government of Himachal Pradesh and Oil India Limited (OIL) have recently inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work together towards developing and utilizing new and renewable energy sources (NRES) in the state. This partnership will focus on exploring various NRES technologies such as solar, wind, geothermal, compressed biogas, and green hydrogen to establish new projects in the state.

One of the significant highlights of the agreement is the possibility of setting up floating solar power plants in various water reservoirs in the state, along with ground-mounted solar power projects. This collaboration is a crucial step towards promoting sustainable development in Himachal Pradesh and achieving its goal of becoming the country’s first Green Energy State.

The partnership is expected to create new opportunities for job creation and economic growth in the region. The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, expressed his confidence in the collaboration, and this partnership can lead to the deployment of new and innovative renewable energy technologies in the state.
