Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Construction’s Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) Business has secured significant Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) orders in both India and overseas markets. The orders were obtained under the Reforms-based Results-linked Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) that aims to reduce pan-India Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT&C) losses by improving operational efficiency and financial sustainability of distribution utilities.
In western Rajasthan, the PT&D Business has been tasked with developing distribution infrastructure in two discom circles, including feeders segregation, reconductoring, cabling, line network augmentation, and geotagging of assets. Meanwhile, in Chennai, the Business has won an order for the second phase of the Chennai Metro’s power supply system. The scope includes designing, supplying, installing, and commissioning receiving substations, auxiliary substations, and SCADA systems for the northern sections of Corridors 3 & 5. The order also includes Gas Insulated Receiving Substations with a capacity of 110kV, which receive incoming supply from the grid and provide power to the traction and station requirements. Additionally, 33kV Auxiliary Substations will be interconnected through a 33kV cable system to power the auxiliary loads of metro stations such as lighting, ventilation, and lifts, among others. The related control and protection systems are also part of the scope of the order.
In the international market, the PT&D Business has secured an order to supply, construct, test, and commission a 132kV substation in the United Arab Emirates. The order underscores L&T’s expertise in executing complex projects and highlights its commitment to expanding its presence in global markets.
