NTPC Renewable Energy Bags 500 MW RE-RTC Project by Railways Energy Management Company

NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd, a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has been awarded a 500 MW renewable energy round-the-clock (RE-RTC) project by Railways Energy Management Company Ltd (REMCL).

The project, which was won in a competitive bidding process for a total of 900 MW RE-RTC, will involve a combination of solar and wind power and will supply round-the-clock green energy to REMCL.

NTPC stated that a power purchase agreement will be signed with Indian Railways for a 25-year period. This move comes as part of India’s aim to achieve 175 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2022, with 450 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

Earlier this week, NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) has invited eligible bidders to participate in a Global Competitive Bidding Process for the selection of developers for ISTS Connected Energy Storage Solutions in India. The last date and time for the receipt of bids, which includes both the Techno-Commercial Bid and Price Bid, is set on June 16, 2023, at 3:00 PM (IST).
