In a significant development for the region, Shri R. K. Singh, the Hon’ble Union Minister of Power, New and Renewable Energy, presided over the foundation stone laying ceremony for the augmentation of the 220/132 kV POWERGRID Ara Substation. The event, attended by dignitaries including Shri Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Hon’ble Energy Minister, Bihar, marked a crucial milestone in bolstering the power infrastructure of the area.
The initiative aims to enhance the substation’s total transformation capacity to 560 MVA, effectively meeting the electricity demand in Ara for the next decade. Shri R. K. Singh emphasized the project’s potential to accelerate development, boost the local economy, and facilitate social progress in the region. The uninterrupted power supply is expected to drive industrial and commercial growth while improving power availability in Bhojpur, Buxar, and Rohtas districts. Furthermore, the augmented substation will enhance Ara’s connectivity with the national grid, strengthening its position within the power network.
Notably, POWERGRID, a Maharatna PSU of the Government of India, has been actively involved in various social development initiatives as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility. The organization has undertaken numerous projects for rural development, such as constructing bathing ghats, PCC roads, community halls, culverts, and boundary walls.
