The strategic collaboration facilitates the widespread adoption of clean energy ecosystems across the Group’s extensive network of hospitals. A key area of focus outlined in the collaboration is the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities at 10 KPJ Healthcare premises. These charging stations, which will be accessible to the public on a pay-per-use basis, aim to support Malaysia’s growing EV infrastructure and encourage EV adoption among staff, patients, and visitors.

The partnership between KPJ Healthcare and Gentari aligns with the ambitious targets set by the Malaysian government to establish 10,000 charging points by 2025 and have 1.3 million EVs on the road by 2040. By installing EV charging stations at KPJ Healthcare hospitals, the collaboration aims to contribute to these national targets, reduce carbon emissions, and promote sustainable transportation. Beyond providing convenient access to EV charging facilities, the collaboration also seeks to raise awareness, educate stakeholders, and influence policy frameworks to accelerate the transition towards sustainable operations and widespread EV adoption throughout the country.

In addition to EV charging facilities, the collaboration will explore the deployment of Zero Emission Vehicle Fleet solutions tailored to the Malaysian market. This may involve the adoption of EVs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote sustainable transportation within the healthcare sector.

Furthermore, KPJ Healthcare and Gentari will also focus on incorporating renewable energy solutions within KPJ Healthcare facilities. This includes the installation of solar panels and other clean energy technologies to harness renewable sources and generate electricity, reducing the Group’s reliance on fossil fuels and overall carbon footprint.

Officer In Charge of KPJ Healthcare, (Puan) Norhaizam Mohamed excited about the collaboration, commented “We are excited to join forces with Gentari as we embark on this transformative journey towards clean energy. With our network of 29 specialist hospitals, we are confident that by combining our expertise and resources, we are able to set new industry standards, establish best practices, and drive positive change in the healthcare sector. Our existing sustainability programme has laid a strong foundation, but we understand the need to accelerate our efforts. This collaboration aligns perfectly with our commitment to providing high-quality healthcare services while prioritising environmental stewardship. Together with Gentari, we will work hand in hand to accelerate the transition towards sustainable operations and make a meaningful impact on global emissions.”
