Aradippou Municipality in Cyprus is embarking on a groundbreaking initiative by initiating the construction of a photovoltaic park next month. This ambitious project will establish Aradippou as the first municipality in Cyprus to possess its very own solar park.
The solar park, which will cover an expansive area of almost 47 square meters in Ayios Fanourios, comes at an estimated cost of €3.1 million.
The endeavor has gained significant traction with Aradippou Mayor Evangelos Evangelides officially sealing the deal with the consortium comprised of Hadjichristofi Construction Ltd, Inteso Construction Ltd, and Tques LLC.
This consortium has been entrusted with the responsibility of constructing the impressive 2.96 MW solar park, set to commence in September and expected to be completed within a span of 15 months.
The overarching goal of this initiative is to render Aradippou Municipality self-sufficient in terms of energy consumption for street and public lighting.
Upon successful completion, Aradippou will pioneer this sustainable feat, setting an example for other municipalities across Cyprus. The project not only underscores Aradippou’s commitment to renewable energy but also positions it as a model for green development within the nation.
Mayor Evangelides emphasized the significance of this achievement, stating, “Aradippou municipality will be the first to cover all its energy needs for street and public lighting, and will also be an example of green development across all of Cyprus.”
This landmark project demonstrates the municipality’s dedication to environmental conservation and sustainable progress.
