ACME Group Partners with Tata Steel SEZ for Land Agreement on Odisha’s First Green Hydrogen Project

Diversified renewable energy company ACME Group has taken a significant step in advancing the green energy landscape by signing a land agreement with Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited (TSSEZL). The agreement involves the allocation of 343 acres of land at the Gopalpur Industrial Park (GIP) in Odisha for the establishment of a pioneering Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia project. This landmark initiative not only marks Odisha’s first-ever Green Hydrogen project but also reflects ACME Group’s dedication to sustainable energy solutions. ACME Group is set to collaborate with Japan’s IHI Corporation for this transformative project.

The agreement signing ceremony witnessed the participation of notable figures including Shri Hemant Sharma, IAS, Principal Secretary of the Industries Department and Chairman of IDCO & IPICOL, Government of Odisha. The agreement itself was formalized between Shri Manikanta Naik, Managing Director of TSSEZL, and Shri Sandeep Kashyap, Chief Operating Officer of ACME Group.

The core of the ACME Group’s plan revolves around the establishment of a green ammonia production facility with a capacity of nearly 1.3 million tons per annum (MTPA). The production of green ammonia will rely on green hydrogen, with the production process powered entirely by renewable energy sources. The project’s physical location will be within the Gopalpur Industrial Park of Tata Steel Special Economic Zone, situated in the Ganjam District of Odisha. The Green Ammonia produced at this facility will be exported to both Western and Eastern markets through the existing Gopalpur port facilities.

Mr. Manoj K Upadhyay, Founder & Chairman of ACME Group, expressed gratitude to various stakeholders for their support in making this project a reality. He acknowledged the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, the Department of Industries, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, and others for their backing. He emphasized that the project aligns with the vision of making India a global hub for Green Hydrogen and its derivatives.

Principal Secretary Mr. Hemant Sharma reiterated Odisha’s aspiration to become a Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia hub, emphasizing the state’s commitment to a sustainable and prosperous future through green energy initiatives.

Mr. Manikanta Naik, MD of Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited, highlighted the favorable investment climate at the Gopalpur Industrial Park. The park, characterized by its infrastructure, logistics connectivity, and environmental clearance, has already attracted investments of around Rs. 4,000 crore. TSSEZL aims to position the Gopalpur Industrial Park as a significant manufacturing hub for both domestic and export-oriented industries.
