First Solar, Inc. announced that Longroad Energy, a US renewable energy developer, owner, and operator, has committed to acquiring an extra 2 GW of advanced thin-film American solar modules. This order for sustainably produced solar modules, slated for delivery between 2027 and 2029, supplements their existing 3.7 GW framework agreement and elevates Longroad Energy’s total procurement of First Solar thin-film modules to around 8 GW since 2017.

โ€œLongroad Energy and First Solar share a longstanding partnership thatโ€™s based on shared values and a common vision for a sustainable energy future,โ€ said Michael Alvarez, co-founder and chief operating officer, Longroad Energy. โ€œBy expanding our procurement of First Solarโ€™s advanced thin film technology, we are extending our commitment to responsibly produced renewable energy technologies and to American solar manufacturing and domestic value chains.โ€

First Solar’s advanced thin-film photovoltaic (PV) modules establish industry standards in quality, durability, reliability, design, and environmental performance. These modules boast the industry’s smallest carbon and water footprint and hold the distinction of being the inaugural PV manufacturer to join the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) global registry for eco-friendly electronics.
