REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a subsidiary of Rural Electrification Corporation (REC), has initiated a competitive bidding process to select a transmission service provider. The chosen provider will establish an inter-state transmission system (ISTS) for evacuating 20 gigawatts (GW) of power from Renewable Energy Zones (REZ) in Rajasthan as part of Phase III, Part I.
The bidding process is open until October 27, 2023, with bid opening on the same day. The project is expected to achieve commercial operation within 42 months from the effective date.
The selected developer is required to ensure that all project aspects, including equipment, facilities, components, and systems, adhere to the terms outlined in the transmission service agreement. Additionally, the developer must obtain a transmission license from the relevant commission.
A tender cost of ₹500,000 is required to participate, and the selected bidder will need to provide a performance bank guarantee of ₹668 crore within ten days of receiving the Letter of Intent.
The winning bidder will acquire 100% equity shares of Rajasthan Part I Power Transmission, including associated assets and liabilities. The exact acquisition price will be communicated twenty days before the deadline by the bid process coordinator.
Eligible bidders must have a track record of infrastructure projects in the past five years with a minimum total capital expenditure of ₹13,370 crore. Projects completed and commissioned at least seven days before the bid deadline will be considered.
