The Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, inaugurated the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd (IREDA) pavilion on October 5, 2023, at the AtoZero (Accelerate to Net Zero) ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Accompanied by senior officials, Shri Pradip Kumar Das, Chairman & Managing Director of IREDA, graced the ceremony and expressed gratitude for the Deputy Prime Minister’s support.
Shri Das emphasized IREDA’s commitment to advancing renewable energy initiatives in India, aligning with the Government of India’s targets and vision. He also emphasized the need to reduce the production costs of green hydrogen through research and innovation. He highlighted the importance of identifying cost-effective methods for green hydrogen production through investments in research and development. Additionally, he advocated for the establishment of hydrogen hubs to capitalize on economies of scale in transportation and storage, thereby advancing the green hydrogen sector.
The IREDA pavilion serves as a showcase for the company’s achievements, expertise, and contributions to the renewable energy sector. It offers an opportunity for IREDA to collaborate with international partners and highlight India’s progress in renewable energy development, fostering engagement, collaboration, and insights into the sector’s future.
During the AtoZero ASEAN Summit, Shri Das participated in two panel discussions: “Green Energy Financing – Addressing Fragmentations and Bridging the Gap in ASEAN” and “Towards Hydrogen Economy: Policy Support, Value Chain Development, and Innovations Around Blue and Green Hydrogen.”
Shri Das also mentioned IREDA’s expectation of its Initial Public Offering (IPO), which will enhance its capital base to meet future requirements and support lending.
