In a major development toward a greener future, Avaada Group, a leading integrated energy platform in India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gopalpur Port Limited. This strategic alliance aims to establish an advanced Storage Facility specifically designed for storing Green Ammonia at the Gopalpur port, marking a significant step in the transition towards environmentally friendly practices.
Green Ammonia, known for its eco-friendly properties, is anticipated to play a vital role in guiding difficult-to-decarbonize sectors towards achieving Net Zero emissions. The signing of this MoU signifies a leap forward, positioning the port as a crucial hub for exporting Green Ammonia, a pivotal component in the global fight against climate change.
This groundbreaking agreement was formalized in the presence of distinguished dignitaries, including Ms. Tukuni Sahu, Honourable Minister of Commerce & Transport in Odisha, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Mishra, Special Secretary of Commerce and Transport Department, Government of Odisha, and Mr. V. Janardhana Rao, CEO of Gopalpur Ports Ltd. The event took place during the Global Maritime India Summit 2023, organized under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, highlighting the collaboration’s significance in the context of sustainable energy transition and environmental responsibility.
Avaada Group’s commitment to green initiatives in Odisha is evident through substantial investments in the development of a robust Green Hydrogen ecosystem. Last month, the group furthered its green initiatives by partnering with TSSEZL (Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Ltd.) to establish a Green Ammonia manufacturing facility within the Special Economic Zone (SEZ). These initiatives not only demonstrate Avaada Group’s dedication to driving environmental change but also exemplify its active role in advancing India’s energy transition efforts and contributing to global sustainability goals.
Vineet Mittal, Chairman of Avaada Group, emphasized the urgency of addressing climate change, stating, “Green Hydrogen and its derivatives have emerged as potent alternatives to fossil fuels, aiding accelerated decarbonization efforts globally. India, with its vast renewable energy potential and skilled workforce, is poised to play a pivotal role in meeting the global demand for Green Hydrogen and its derivatives.”
Avaada’s collaboration with Gopalpur Port Limited marks a significant milestone in the journey toward a carbon-neutral world. Their shared goal is to establish an advanced storage facility for Green Hydrogen and its derivatives. Each molecule of Green Hydrogen produced and supplied to challenging industrial sectors and transportation contributes to the transformative efforts shaping our world.
