Kinpo Group, a well-known global electronics manufacturer, has entered into a long-term partnership with TotalEnergies ENEOS to implement an 11.9 megawatt-peak (MWp) solar rooftop photovoltaic (PV) system at its Batangas facility. As Kinpo Group’s maiden solar rooftop venture in the Philippines, this project aligns with the group’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality through an internal renewable energy source.
The solar project, consisting of more than 20,500 solar modules, is expected to generate 16,700 megawatt-hours (MWh) of renewable electricity annually. This will cater to 17% of the facility’s energy requirements, resulting in an approximate annual reduction of 8,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions—equivalent to planting 120,000 trees.
As per the agreement, TotalEnergies ENEOS will bear the complete financial responsibility for the installation and operation of the PV system. Kinpo Group, on the other hand, will only be obligated to pay for the electricity generated over a 20-year period, thereby circumventing any initial upfront costs.
“Net zero is a difficult goal to achieve, but we must do it. The faster we can do this, the less harm there is to the earth, and only then, can we avoid a climate catastrophe. To achieve its net zero target by 2050, Kinpo Group has implemented its internal carbon pricing in 2023 and it will be continuously adjusted in the future to accelerate its low-carbon transition. Cooperating with TotalEnergies ENEOS will help advance its long-term strategy and promote a more sustainable business.”, said Mr. Andrew Chen, CEO of Kinpo Group.
“We are delighted to be trusted by Kinpo Group to provide their facility with renewable energy and advancing their carbon neutrality strategy and long-term development plan. As a leading solar service provider for commercial and industrial businesses, TotalEnergies ENEOS is committed to helping more ODM/OEM and EMS manufacturers like Kinpo Group in lowering their energy costs and carbon footprint through our tailor-made renewable solutions. We look forward to fostering a lasting energy partnership with Kinpo Group and exploring further collaboration in the future.”, added Elodie Renaud, Director of TotalEnergies ENEOS Renewables Distributed Generation Asia.
