On November 10, 2023, Halead successfully completed its pilot project in Abu Dhabi, achieving an additional 3.4% power generation gain beyond simulated estimates using Third-Generation SUNPLUS. This breakthrough comes with the utilization of more cost-effective material dimensions, courtesy of the latest SUNPLUS gain technology!

The SUNPLUS solution not only elevates the power generation gain to an impressive 9-11% but also reduces the Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE) by 0.5-4%. This results in a 6-10% increase in Performance Ratio (PR) for the owner or EPC, pushing the power station’s Performance Ratio to exceed 93%, subject to specific plant design.

The Third Generation SUNPLUS reflective material unveiled by HALEAD reached a reflectivity of 88%, which is a significant increase from its predecessor, more effectively addressing the issue of insufficient reflected irradiation of Bifacial Module’s rear side, without increasing the temperature of the modules; Even after 12,000 hours (Year Reference: More than 15 years)of QUV Accelerated Aging Test, the reflectivity remains around 70%, and microscopic inspections reveal no cracks or delamination on the material’s surface.

As a flexible material, SUNPLUS is resistant to bending and tearing. Its multi-layered structure facilitates easy installation without altering the power station’s existing design. It is suitable for a variety of flat or relatively flat terrains, including deserts, Gobi, wastelands, hills, and rooftops. Simultaneously, through optimized anchor spacing and installation methods, the material has better fixation stability leading to a mitigated risk of displacement by strong wind conditions.

SUNPLUS also has excellent performance in terms of safety and environmental protection. First, excellent flame retardancy provides essential protection for Photovoltaic plant components (including PV modules, inverters, transformers, and more) as the material will not allow the shift of potential fires from one location to another, safeguarding both equipment and the surrounding environment from potential hazards. Second, is the environmental value. It is composed of fully recyclable materials, making it environmentally friendly and safe. Moreover, as higher gains are achieved, the SUNPLUS solution displaces a large amount of carbon dioxide emissions from the power station promoting carbon neutrality.

The Third Generation SUNPLUS features an enhanced design life extending up to 15 years. The material possesses outstanding features, including anti-fouling, self-cleaning, waterproof, mildew-proof, anti-bacterial, anti-UV, and high & low-temperature resistance. These properties contribute to an extended service life of the material, reducing the necessity for frequent operations and maintenance.

Halead demonstrates flexibility by providing support to clients during the bidding phase in the design stage or post-bidding for retrofitting. This assistance aims to help achieve key performance guarantees or lower LCOE, with the solution being customizable based on specific project and client requirements.

Looking ahead, Halead is committed to advancing the SUNPLUS solution, offering customers products with enhanced performance and advantages as a comprehensive solution for all Bifacial projects. Further details will be consistently updated.
