In its pursuit of carbon neutrality, Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMP) has inked a Retail Supply Contract (RSC) with a local supplier to furnish eco-friendly electricity for its manufacturing operations.

This move enables TMP to achieve a 100% Renewable Energy (RE) ratio by supplying approximately 90% of its total electricity needs, complementing the remaining RE sourced onsite from an existing 1.46-megawatt rooftop solar power system.

Team Energy Corporation, the retail electricity supplier, will commence supply to TMP on December 26, 2023, with each megawatt hour backed by an International Renewable Energy Certificate (I-REC[E]).

TMP aims to decarbonize the rest of its energy sources for manufacturing by 2035, aligning with Toyota’s global commitment to carbon-neutral manufacturing plants by the same year under the Toyota Environmental Challenge (TEC) 2050.

The initiative extends beyond electrified vehicles to encompass reducing the overall environmental impact across the automotive industry’s value chain.

Local Toyota suppliers and dealers in the Philippines have followed TMP’s lead in implementing energy efficiency and RE initiatives, contributing to the collective efforts in addressing TEC 2050.
