Mr. Ravindra Kumar Assumes Role as Director (Operations) at NTPC

On February 26, 2024, Mr. Ravindra Kumar assumed the position of Director (Operations) at NTPC. He brings with him a wealth of experience and qualifications, having graduated with a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from BIT Sindri in 1988. Prior to his current role, he served as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Director (Operations) at NTPC Limited.

Mr. Kumar’s journey with NTPC began in 1989 as a Graduate Engineer Trainee officer, marking the start of a distinguished 34-year career characterized by diverse roles in Commissioning, Operations and Maintenance (O&M), Engineering, and Project Management.

Throughout his tenure, Mr. Kumar has held various key positions within NTPC, including significant roles at the Kahalgaon Project in the O&M function and at the Corporate Centre within the Engineering department, providing technical support to the Director (Technical).

One of his notable achievements includes his pivotal role in the development of the first Maitree supercritical power project of the Bangladesh India Friendship Power Company Limited (BIFPCL) in Bangladesh. As Chief Technical Officer (CTO), he led the engineering, erection, commissioning, and O&M activities of the 660 MW 1st Unit of BIFPCL.

In his capacity as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited, Mr. Kumar spearheaded various construction and erection activities, showcasing his leadership and management skills.

Mr. Kumar is recognized as a seasoned professional with a blend of corporate and site experience, characterized by a people-centric approach, deep knowledge, and extensive experience across the power sector. His appointment as Director (Operations) marks another milestone in his illustrious career at NTPC.
