Arkema has made significant strides in its climate plan by securing long-term renewable energy agreements for several of its sites across the United States. These agreements cover locations in Calvert City (Kentucky), Beaumont (Texas), Chatham (Virginia), and West Chester (Pennsylvania), as well as all Bostik sites in the country.
By the end of 2024, Arkema aims to source around 40% of its required power from renewable sources in the U.S., thanks to partnerships with energy providers like Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), Entergy, and 3Degrees. This move marks a pivotal milestone in Arkema’s decarbonization strategy, targeting a 48.5% reduction in Scopes 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 compared to 2019 levels.
Under these agreements, TVA and Entergy are set to deliver approximately 35 GWh/year and 60 GWh/year of solar energy to Arkema’s Calvert City and Beaumont sites, respectively. Meanwhile, 3Degrees will provide green e-certified renewable electricity certificates, totaling around 57 GWh/year, to support decarbonization efforts at the Chatham and West Chester facilities, along with all Bostik facilities nationwide.
In addition to these recent agreements, Arkema had previously secured renewable energy deals for its Clear Lake and Bayport sites in Texas.
Tony OโDonovan, Arkema’s regional leader for North America, expressed enthusiasm about these accomplishments, stating, “These achievements are significant milestones on Arkema’s journey towards Net Zero. We are committed to forging similar partnerships to further advance our climate plan objectives.”
