Standard Solar, a prominent developer and proprietor of commercial and community solar projects, has acquired a 18.5-MW solar project portfolio in Vermont from local developer, MHG Solar.
Standard Solar, as the owner and operator, will deploy six projects in Vermont, supplying clean energy to the state’s electric utilities through its Standard Offer Program. This acquisition reaffirms Standard Solar’s dedication to advancing sustainable energy solutions and bolstering solar development in the area.
This portfolio, spanning Vermont, signifies a significant expansion of Standard Solar’s presence within the state. With these projects, the company actively supports Vermont’s green energy goals and strengthens its role as a dynamic solar energy center. These endeavors are poised to generate clean electricity for thousands of Vermont households, contributing substantially to greenhouse gas emission reduction. Moreover, they are expected to catalyze the creation of numerous local job opportunities, fostering economic growth and community advancement.
The projects, including Evergreen Solar (2.9 MW in Fair Haven), Halladay Solar (3.3 MW in Middlebury), Midway Solar (3.3 MW in Berlin), Steinberg Solar (3.3 MW in Brandon), Stone Mill Solar (2.8 MW in Castleton), and Trolley Tracks Solar (2.8 MW in Poultney), are expected to be completed by year-end.
The power purchase agreement (PPA) is with VEPP Inc., serving as the Standard Offer Facilitator for existing and new Standard Offer Projects. VEPP procures electric power from Vermont’s renewable sources, distributing it equitably to all 17 Vermont utilities.
