Arevon Energy, Inc., a prominent renewable energy firm, has forged a 15-year agreement with San Diego Community Power (SDCP), the second-largest community choice aggregator in California, to provide energy storage services through the Avocet Energy Storage Project. This initiative, situated in Carson, California, is set to be the largest in SDCP’s portfolio, featuring a 200 megawatt (MW)/800 megawatt-hour (MWh) capacity and expected to be operational by the second quarter of 2026. The Avocet project, utilizing Tesla’s Megapack technology, aims to enhance grid stability by storing energy during low-demand periods and discharging it during peak times, thus preventing potential blackouts.

This project, which represents Arevon’s second partnership with SDCP, will significantly contribute to the local economy by creating around 75 union construction jobs and generating over $35 million in property tax revenue, benefiting local government activities and education. The facility’s operation is set to supply power to approximately 45,000 homes for up to four hours daily, aligning with both Arevon and SDCP’s mission to provide clean, reliable, and affordable energy while supporting the community’s economic and social welfare. This initiative underscores the growing emphasis on energy storage systems in bolstering grid reliability and supporting the transition to renewable energy sources.
