Suniva and Heliene Forge Strategic Sourcing Pact for Inaugural U.S.-Made Crystalline Silicon PV Modules Eligible for Domestic Content

Suniva, Inc., the leading U.S. manufacturer of high-efficiency monocrystalline silicon solar cells, and Heliene, Inc., renowned for its customer-centric approach in providing North American-made solar PV modules, have signed a three-year strategic sourcing agreement. As per the terms, Heliene will integrate Suniva’s U.S.-manufactured solar cells into its U.S.-made solar modules, slated for market availability starting in mid-2024. These modules from Heliene will debut crystalline solar modules featuring U.S.-made solar cells. The contract reflects the growing demand among solar project owners and developers to qualify for the 10% Domestic Content Bonus Investment Tax Credit, attainable through the use of U.S.-made cells, as outlined in the U.S. Department of Treasury’s guidance issued in May 2023.

This alliance positions Heliene and Suniva to swiftly expand domestic cell and module manufacturing capabilities to meet the escalating demand for domestically produced crystalline PV modules. Currently, all domestically produced solar crystalline modules rely solely on imported cells. This collaboration aims to bridge this gap in the U.S. solar supply chain.
