Real estate investment and development firm Aardex has announced the launch of its new subsidiary, Stellera, dedicated to the development of community solar projects. With a specific focus on communities disproportionately impacted by the energy transition, Stellera aims to contribute to the expansion of clean energy opportunities.
Caleb Hebel, Principal for Aardex and Stellera, expressed the company’s commitment to incorporating clean energy for the long-term prosperity of communities. He highlighted Stellera’s extensive experience in renewable energy project development and its dedication to working alongside communities and utilities.
Leading the Stellera team is Eric Shannon, an industry veteran with nearly a decade of experience in energy project development. Shannon’s previous experience includes managing utility-scale solar and wind projects totaling over 5 GW with Invenergy.
Stellera will primarily focus on community solar opportunities in the Rocky Mountain and Midwest regions. Through collaboration with various stakeholders, including landowners, communities, utilities, and state agencies, the company aims to identify suitable land locations, assess site constructability, secure grid access, and maximize project value.
Employing a data-driven development approach, Stellera seeks to minimize risks and maximize positive impacts for its partners and the communities it serves. The company is actively seeking project development opportunities to further its mission of expanding access to clean energy initiatives.
