Essar Power Accelerates Green Energy Agenda with Ankur Kumar as Renewables CEO

Essar Power Limited, a pioneering private sector independent power producer in India, has proudly appointed Ankur Kumar as the Chief Executive Officer of its Renewables Business Division. This strategic move underscores Essar’s commitment to advancing towards sustainable energy solutions and fostering a robust renewable ecosystem in India.

Ankur Kumar brings over 24 years of extensive experience in the Renewable Energy and Public Infrastructure sectors to his new role. His previous position as the Chief Executive Officer at ACME Solar Holdings Pvt. Ltd. saw him leading the company’s strategic expansion into green hydrogen and ammonia businesses, alongside broadening its geographical reach.

In his new capacity, Ankur will closely collaborate with Essar Power’s Board and Leadership Teams to bolster the company’s renewable energy portfolio and attract top talent to drive its green energy initiatives forward.

Prashant Ruia, Director of Essar Capital, expressed optimism about Ankur’s appointment, stating, “Essar is aggressively pursuing its vision of transforming sector landscapes to green. Ankur’s successful leadership tenure at TBEA Xinjiang Sunoasis Co. Limited underscores his proficiency in achieving business objectives, fostering high-performance teams, and delivering projects within budget and timeline.

An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Indore, Ankur holds an MBA in Finance and Strategy, along with a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) degree from Delhi University.
