Solar Industry Coalition Responds to Antidumping and Countervailing Duty Petitions Filed by Manufacturers

In a recent development, The American Alliance for Solar Manufacturing Trade Committee, comprising Convalt Energy, First Solar, Meyer Burger, Mission Solar, Qcells, REC Silicon, and Swift Solar, represented by DC law firm Wiley Rein LLP, has filed antidumping and countervailing duty petitions with the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) and the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Mike Carr, Executive Director of the Solar Energy Manufacturers for America (SEMA) Coalition, responded to the news with a statement highlighting the challenges faced by American solar manufacturers due to alleged subsidies benefiting Chinese-headquartered companies in Southeast Asia. Carr emphasized the detrimental impact on American solar manufacturers and their workers, citing the export of below-cost solar into the U.S. market.

Carr reiterated SEMA’s commitment to advocating for robust trade enforcement measures and reshoring the solar supply chain to bolster the competitiveness of American companies.
