Mr. Parviz Shahbazov, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, resulting in a Joint Statement affirming their commitment to bolstering bilateral ties, particularly in the energy sector.
The Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, bound by a longstanding historical relationship, are poised to capitalize on mutual opportunities, with a special focus on advancing energy collaboration. Both nations align in their dedication to fostering stable and sustainable oil markets, pivotal for a smooth global energy transition and combating climate change.
Underpinning their cooperation are frameworks like the OPEC Plus Declaration of Cooperation and the Charter of Cooperation between Oil Producing Countries, aimed at ensuring stability in the global oil market and fostering sustainable economic growth.
Furthermore, both countries pledge to intensify their efforts in climate action, in accordance with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and its Paris Agreement. Their approach emphasizes equity, common but differentiated responsibilities, and respective capabilities, acknowledging the diverse national circumstances.
Looking ahead to COP29, Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan are committed to championing ambitious yet inclusive climate action, highlighting the imperative of economic diversification aligned with sustainable development goals.
In the renewable energy sector, significant progress has been made, with Saudi Arabia’s notable investment in wind power projects in Azerbaijan standing as a testament to their collaborative efforts. Both sides vow to deepen their cooperation in electricity, renewable energy, and energy efficiency, exchanging knowledge and experiences for mutual benefit.
Moreover, discussions surrounding joint investment opportunities, bilateral trade expansion, energy efficiency, and low-emission fuels underscore the comprehensive nature of their partnership. The successful outcomes of the third Joint Technical Committee meeting further solidify their commitment to enhancing energy-related cooperation across various domains.
