Egypt ERA Opens Registration For Private Sector Bilateral Renewable Energy Contracts

The Egyptian Electric Utility and Consumer Protection Regulatory Agency (Egypt ERA) has announced the commencement of registrations for the first phase of bilateral electricity contracting between the private sector, known as “P2P”. Interested parties are invited to submit their applications from June 1, 2024, until August 31, 2024.

This initiative aims to facilitate the participation of companies in renewable electricity generation projects, as outlined in Circular No. (2) of 2024, and in accordance with the prevailing legislation of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The first phase targets a total of 500MW of new renewable electricity generation, including solar and wind projects, with each project having a capacity of 100MW.

Registration of consumption sites is limited to new sites that have not entered into electricity supply contracts with entities such as the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company, the New and Renewable Energy Authority, the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company, or any authorized electricity distribution company. An application fee of 50,000 Egyptian Pounds is required for submission.
