Echoenergia has announced the start of operations at its inaugural solar complex in Ribeiro Gonçalves, located in the southwestern region of Piauí. The expansive photovoltaic plant spans over 370 hectares and features 460,000 solar modules, boasting an installed capacity of up to 223 MW, sufficient to power approximately 335,000 homes.
Leonardo Machado, Echoenergia’s Operations Director, emphasized the strategic importance of the new solar park, stating, “The entry into operation of the Ribeiro Gonçalves solar park is an important step for Echoenergia and the Equatorial Group, which are now expanding the diversification of their portfolio in their trajectory in the renewable generation segment. It will be a significant asset in our leading strategy in delivering renewable energy to the end customer.”
Echoenergia, which contributes to 4% of Brazil’s wind generation, is a major player in the renewable energy sector and a key growth platform for the Equatorial Group. The company currently has approximately 1.8 GW of capacity, both operational and under development. This includes 1.2 GW from wind generation complexes in the Northeast and 574 MW from solar plants in Ribeiro Gonçalves (PI) and Barreiras (BA), with the latter nearing completion.
The launch of the Ribeiro Gonçalves solar complex marks a significant milestone for Echoenergia and the Equatorial Energia Group, underscoring their commitment to expanding renewable energy production and delivering sustainable power solutions to consumers.
